The end-of-module exam, which is online, is a multiple-choice test of 10-15 questions. You must achieve a mark of 70% to complete the module successfully. You can take the exam as many times as you like, no matter what score you get.
With a short course (or module), when you complete the end-of-module exam successfully you will be taken to an electronic completion certificate. This can be printed and saved, and used to claim your CEH and maintain your license.
With a full course, you will need to successfully complete all of the end-of-module exams before this certificate is available.
Short courses or modules are about an hour long. The full courses are between 25-40 hours long. The CEH allocation provides a rough guide to how long it will take to complete a course. If a specific course has 35 CEHs, that's a rough ballpark figure for how long it will take to get through the material.
They are recognized for CEHs by most states. It is important that you check with your specific State Board of Professional Engineers to review any additional requirements.
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) accepts these courses under the category of "Other Educational Activities." However, of the current 36 hours required to maintain a NY license, only 18 hours can be reported from "other educational activities" such as eLearning.
